Prio-Vneshtorgbank (PJSC) is a private regional commercial bank. Established in 1989, in Ryazan, by a group of entrepreneurs. From the very beginning it worked with the local businesses, in 1992 launched deposits and other bank services for individual clients. Now the bank has its offices in three regions of Central Russia - the “home” region Ryazan and two neighboring regions Voronezh and Moscow oblast. The key areas of activity are lending and settlement and cash services for corporate clients, attracting funds from the population in deposits. The basis of the bank's liabilities is formed by the funds of individual clients. For many years, the bank has been sponsoring and supporting local initiatives in the fields of ecology, culture and social assistance.
The history of Prio-bank
Established in 1989, Prio-bank has been successfully growing and developing for more than 30 years now. Passed through the times of turmoil, Prio-bank remains the leader on regional market. In the last decade it expanded its services into two neighboring regions, Voronezh and Moscow oblast.
1989: the first commercial bank in Ryazan
In the second half of the 1980s there were changes in the Soviet economic system. State-owned plants and factories were faced to have self-sustained budgets. Newly organazied production and trading cooperatives accompanied by the first private firms were taking more and more significant role. The state banking system was not able to secure their interests. Many progressive thinkers and businessmen were looking for a solution.
August 2,1989 initiative group of Ryazan businessmen held meeting at the regional office of the State Bank of USSR, discussing the establishment of a private regional commercial bank. The decision was made and that very day the first commercial bank of Ryazan has been established. The head of the financial Department of the Ryazan machine-tool plant Vladimir Mazaev became its first Chaiman. On the 21 of October the Charter of the commercial Bank Prioksky was approved (abbreviated as Prio-Bank), and on the 6 of December 1989 the State Bank of the USSR registered the new private financial institution under the number 212.
1990-1994: the period of active growth
In October 1990, 13 branches of Agroprombank operating in the Ryazan region were joined Prio-Bank. In the autumn of 1991 due to the change in the marketing strategy and the need to develop the banking service for the foreign economic activity of regional enterprises Prio-Bank changed its full official name to Prio-Vneshtorgbank, while still using its much more well known short name Prio-bank as the brand-name.
During the difficult times of disintegration of the Soviet Union and the period of the Government economic program called "shock therapy", Prio-bank has lounched the service for individual citizens and started accepting deposits. It was the first among the Ryazan banks that got currency exchange license in 1992. Alongside with that, Prio-bank began opening branch offices in Ryazan oblast districts.
In the summer of 1992 there was a merge of Prio-Vneshtorgbank and Probiznesbank, the second largest bank among the Ryazan commercial banks. The head of that bank Victor Ganishyn became the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Prio-Vneshtorgbank. Two years later, in 1994, Kasimovbank joined Prio-bank.
According to the results of politically unstable year 1993 Prio-Vneshtorgbank managed to enter the top 30 most reliable Russian banks. According to its amount of internal capital it took the 91-st place among the 100 Largest Banks of Russia.
1994-1997: development and improvement
In 1994, Prio-Vneshtorgbank became a member of the Moscow interbank currency exchange, which allowed it to carry out transactions on the stock exchange for its clients. That year Prio-Bank was fully computerized, and the creation of a unified electronic database, which let the clients to contact any Prio-Bank office for deposit transactions.
1995 became the year of development of correspondent network for Prio-Bank. At the end of the year correspondent relations with 25 Russian banks were established and there were opened 7 accounts in foreign banks.
In 1996, the Bank started to issue its own bank-cards, got his first ATM and implemented its first salary project for the Ryazan electric power plant. That year Prio-Bank has opened its branch office in Moscow. This made it possible to rise the effectiveness of the bank services connecting Ryazan enterprises with metropolitan partners.
1998-2001: through financial crisis to regional leadership
In the aftermath of Russian financial crisis in August 1998 Prio-bank had managed to quickly redirect investments and escaped the loss of customer funds and the bank's capital base.
In 1999 Prio-bank received the license of the Bank of Russia to conduct operations with precious metals.
During the year 2000 Prio-bank significantly optimized maintenance of foreign economic activity of its clients. In a single year, the number of foreign currency accounts increased to 479 and the total turnover of customer payments amounted to 5.4 million USD.
The completion of construction and grand opening of the new Office Building of Prio-bank took place on 8 September 2001, in Ryazan. The project design was developed by the Yugoslav firm Yugodrvo, and the construction and finishing works were done by many of the Ryazan organizations and firms: Ryazanzhilstroy (general contractor), Brandt, Contrfost, Nadezhda and others. The Central Office of Prio-bank is an 11-storeyed building with a total area of 7474 square meters.
2002-2008: years of modernization
In 2002, Prio-bank continued expanding its branch offices in the city of Ryazan and the oblast. The bank began accepting municipal and other customer payments and transactions for the sale of precious coins.
Further dynamic development of salary projects and plastic cards has attracted a number of major employers in the region. At the same time, Prio-bank began installing the first ATMs at the enterprises and in the service points. In 2015 Prio-bank has 30 ATMs and 60 payment terminals. The cards that are issued by the bank are cards of the local system Prio Cards and the international payment system MasterCard.
On 21 September 2004 Prio-bank received certificate No.12 of the federal Agency for Deposit Insurance (ADI).
2009-2014: 25-year anniversary
Prudent banking and correct calculation allowed Prio-bank to undergo financial crisis of 2008-2009 without undue risk.
In 2005 and 2007, Prio-bank is the laureate of the national contest "Banking" in nomination "the Best regional bank", in 2009 Prio-bank was awarded by the diploma of the winner and silver emblem in the same category, and in 2014 has gotten Golden award as "The best regional bank for its contribution to the economy of the Ryazan region". At the end of 2013, the shareholders’ equity of Prio-Vneshtorgbank exceeded 1 billion rubles.
In 2013 Authoritative rating Agency "Expert RA" assigned the high credit rating of "A" to Prio-Vneshtorgbank, and in 2014 confirmed it.
In 2013, Prio-bank presented new corporate identity designed to show the openness and modernity of the bank. One of the stylistic elements has become the traditional pattern of the Mikhailov lace well known in Kasimov region of Ryazan oblast, which emphasizes the local authenticity of the bank.
In 2014, the television project "Financial literacy" received a diploma in mediacompetition of regional office of the Central Bank of the Russian Federation. This was the part of a multi-year project on financial education for the citizens of Ryazan.
On 6 December 2014, the Bank celebrated its 25th anniversary. On the occasion of the holiday it gave Ryazan an urban sculpture: in front of the main office on Yesenina street a bronze piggy-bank created by Vasily Gorbunov appeared. From that time there is current tradition among Ryazan citizens to rub its "pig’s snout" for luck.
2015-2021: updating and expanding
In 2015, Prio-bank was the only among Ryazan banks that had entered the State Program of subsidizing mortgage and car loans. Two new offices were opened in Ryazan.
In 2016, Prio-bank received the prestigious regional award for support of theatrical art. Since its founding in 1989, Prio-bank helps the region's theaters, including the international festival of puppet theatres "Ryazanskie smotriny".
That year Roman Ganishin has became the Chairman of the Board of the bank, and Mikhail Volkov is its first Deputy. On 11 Feb 2016 in accordance with new legislation the officical name of the bank has changed, from Prio-Vneshtorgbank (OJSC) to Prio-Vneshtorgbank (PJSC).
Expansion of branch offices had continued. In 2017 one more office has been opened in the city of Troitsk. Formally, this locality refers to so called “Big Moscow”, while the branch is focused primarily on the residents and organizations of the Moscow oblast. Two months later that year a brand new office has began to operate in Voronezh, one of the largest cities in the eastern region of Central Russia, the major industrial and investment center.
In 2019 Prio-bank had celebrated its 30-th anniversary. Next year the new agenda has been accepted and the development of the bank's branch in the Moscow oblast had started. From 2019 to 2021 there were opened, one after another with a period of just several months, four new offices in such important industrial cities of Moscow region as Electrostal, Shchelkovo, Podolsk and Kolomna.
